My aim is to help primary school aged children with the basics of maths. Without the basics in place, it is impossible for a child to move on with maths and as the class moves on and they get left behind. The gap widens as the child gets older, they continue to struggle, losing their interest in learning.
I am available Tuesdays and Thursdays between 11.15am and 1.15pm in the Auckland areas of New Lynn, Titirangi, Green Bay and Blockhouse Bay. For young children, each session should be 1 hour in length max. I come into the school so that your afternoons are free and you don't have to travel. You will need to check with your classroom teacher and school to make sure they will accept in-school tutoring. Suggestions for activities to do at home will be given. The more practise a child has the more progress they will make.
I have spent several years as a teacher aide helping children with a range of learning needs. I also have a son with special needs who was in the mainstream through primary school. I spent many hours in his classrooms helping him and other children with all aspects of their learning and wellbeing. When classroom resources or the learning structure doesn't suit I make my own resources or use the many resources I've gathered over the years, to make the learning activity suitable for the child's need and learning style. I now have my own organisation, Improving Life Outcomes, which helps people with learning challenges. Prior to this I worked in research science. I hold an MSc degree.
I have previously had a police background check. I am happy to organise a current one if required.
