I am a qualified Japanese Tutor with 6 years experience.
I started studying Japanese age 11 at intermediate school. Continued through high school getting almost all Excellence for internal and external NCEA assessments.
I then decided to acquire a Bachelors Degree in Japanese Language from Ara (formerly CPIT). During my degree I lived for a year in Hiroshima on a scholarship to Hiroshima Shudo University. I also came first in the 2014 JSANZ National Japanese speech competition for NZ. I have passed JLPT N2 (178/180) and passed JLPT N1 three times.
I have been tutoring since 2013. Students include, high school students, native Japanese children that were born in NZ, veterinarians and an architect. I was also a relief teacher for second year Japanese degree students for 2 days while a teacher was away. I was also a part time English tutor when I lived in Japan so those experiences also add to my teaching skills.
I am currently teaching Japanese for 1.5 hours per week to a Management Accountant at Farmlands in Christchurch. I have been tutoring them since early 2017 and they recently passed the Japanese government exam JLPT N4.
I am also teaching a university student at Lincoln University 6 hours per week. They will be moving to Tokyo for work in 2020 to work for Nissui and are preparing their language skills.
